Mechelen
Mechelen has undergone a real metamorphosis in recent years. When it got a new mayor in 2001, it changed from a marginal town to a topper among the Flemish art cities. Every year more residents and visitors find their way to the city.
Located between Antwerp and Brussels, Mechelen is rather small in size, but big in experience!
Trendy shops and hotspots, interesting museums and impressive heritage guarantee an exceptional city trip. Mechelen was once the Burgundian capital of the Netherlands, and you can still feel that today. Thanks to the small scale of the city, you can easily visit them on foot. Ideal for a nice teambuilding or weekend away with overnight stay!
Mechelen in brief
Mechelen is actually one big district, with the Grote Markt as a historical central point. This large central square is dominated by the impressive St-Romboutstoren. Both the skywalk on the 97m high tower and the climb to it guarantee a special experience.
All houses date from different times and have different styles, especially Renaissance and Rococo. In the middle of the historic center you can feel the flourishing and Burgundian trading city that Mechelen once was.
